Ride description

RAIN is an annual ride across the State of Indiana sponsored by the Bloomington Bicycle Club. Its 160-mile length runs mostly on the Historic National Route 40, an older divided four-lane road with light traffic. It has gentle rolling hills. You should be able to average at least 12 to 14 mph for over 11 hours.
2009 Ride
Riders MUST wear helmets and must obey all Indiana traffic laws. This includes stopping at all stop signs and red lights. You must finish your ride by 9:00 pm (dark) to be an official finisher of RAIN. This is a maximum of a 14-hour ride. Rider numbers will be provided. Here are some press reports of the 2009 RAIN:

Rider & Personal Support Vehicle (PSV) Information

If you plan to participate in RAIN, you will need to arrange your own vehicle support or contract for transport with Mark Robinson. (See Transportation below.)

Massage therapy by Glenn will again be available at the end of the ride. To reserve a time, go to Otherwise, sign up for a time when you arrive at the Earlham College campus in Richmond. Glenn is offering a special price of $5 off his normal 30-minute rate.

On day six, join 1,000 other bicyclists on the Ride Across INdiana (RAIN) to ride from Terre Haute back to your original starting point in Richmond. That's why we call this ride RAINSTORM: Ride Across INdiana--Same Thing, Only Ride More.

Registration details

Fees for RAIN 2010 are $45 per rider for online registration or $50 per rider for mail-in registration (pdf) up to and including June 13, 2010. A late fee of $10 will be added for entries received on or after June 14, 2010.

You may pick up rider packets on Friday between 4:00 and 9:00 pm EDT at the Drury Inn, or on Saturday morning early at the Drury Inn only. Fees are non-refundable, so plan appropriately.

Please register early (at least 2-weeks) so we can have the right amount of food at the rest stops. There will be NO day of event registration.
